Our Ministries

Our Lady of Light is a missional, outreach-focused mission that serves our neighbors in the Chicago in various ways:

Mass

The Mass is the source and summit of our faith where we go to the table of the Lord to give him thanks for his saving sacrifice. Because we do not own our own space, Mass times are limited. However, we know that Christ is truly present whether we worship in our own space, a rented sanctuary, or even a home. Our next Mass will be Sunday, June 29, at 2:00pm, at 516 Church St. Evanston, IL 60201.

Hungry in Humboldt Ministry

This ministry is focused on homeless outreach. There is a large homeless population that takes refuge within Humboldt park, and we help to provide them with food and water as well as clean socks and hygiene projects when available. We rely on donations and volunteers for support.

Theology on Tap

Theology on Tap is our faith formation and fellowship ministry. Everyone 25 and older is welcome to join us for fellowship, light drinking, and (most importantly) discussion of Catholic teaching and theology! We also host a sober version on Theology on Tap at coffee shops instead!

St. Joseph the Worker Ministry

Our St. Joseph the worker group supports workers through the ministry of presence and support during union strikes or protests for better wages and working conditions. We also volunteer with workers-rights organizations that advocate for stronger labor laws and protections for underrepresented workers.

LGBTQ Outreach Ministry

Many LGBTQ people do not feel safe coming to church in person, and may attend mass virtually. However, the sacraments, including Holy Communion, penance, and baptism, can only be accessed in person. That’s why our pastor travels to provide them free of cost to anyone who needs them.
